2nd February 2010
Dear Parents/Carers
This Friday our
school is to be re-assessed for “Investors in Pupils”.
This event was postponed earlier in the year
as you may recall, I sent out information last year.
As a reminder of the
nature of the assessment, the day will be timetabled to allow the assessor to
walk the school,
speak to groups of children, groups of adults,
governors and parents.
Conversations will be about the five strands
of Investors, behaviour, attendance, learning,
classroom management and the induction of
new pupils.
You will, of course,
know your children’s targets already, but do take time to discuss their
progress against these, as your interest
always helps the children to try harder.
We hope the assessor
will have a very enjoyable day and that our children will enjoy talking about
our school and their achievements. The
assessor will join us for our Friday celebration assembly to complete the
day.
In addition, I would
like to thank all of you who contributed to our bucket collection for
Haiti.
We raised £413.00 which is very commendable
after all the other monies you have generously donated this year
to
the various charities we have supported.
Many, many thanks.

Jonathan Robinson, a good friend to our school, is planning a
charity run, to support the homeless in Wakefield.
He would like to start the run from Lofthouse Gate School. He will
be stopping at several schools and invites the children to design an outrageous
cap which he will wear for the first stage of his venture.
All our pupils have the opportunity to take part, and you can
collect a planning sheet to help generate their design from your
teacher. It would be lovely if you could support your child in the
initial design, which should be brought back to school by Friday, 12th
February 2010.
There will be one winner in each class which will then be created at
school from the designs.
These completed hats will be judged and the winning cap will be worn
by Jonathan and the others will be displayed in school.
We hope you have fun helping with this and look forward to seeing
some wonderful creations!

Eco
Group

|
Meet Mr. Phillips, he is a governor in our school. Mr.
Phillips has a keen interest in eco issues and so has become involved in
our Eco Group activities and wants to help where he can. He became
interested in eco issues when he was younger, particularly waste and used
to work in waste management.
His attitude is if you dig up a plant then you should plant one to replace
it.
Mr. Phillips enjoys gardening and sightseeing.
