About Us

The school, which is a County Primary Day School, provides for the education of boys and girls between the ages of five and eleven years. In addition, Nursery education is provided, usually from the age of three years, as accommodation in the Nursery permits.

During the current school year there will be 360 children of statutory school age on roll in the main school, together with 66 half time pupils in the Nursery. On reaching the age of 11+ the majority of children usually transfer to Outwood Grange High School.

School Aims/Ethos

Our school aims to:-

  • create in each child a feeling of self worth

  • develop everyone to their full potential, intellectually, socially, aesthetically and spiritually

  • maximise children’s natural talents

  • equip children fully for the next stage of their education

  • foster in children a love of life

  • develop mutual respect between children and adults

  • encourage meaningful relationships between home and school

  • enable children to recognise the importance of always trying their best

  • help the children understand their responsibilities and obligations towards other people and the wider community

  • encourage children to value and care for the environment.

  • promote and develop the skills and knowledge needed for children to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Some of these aims are more fully developed in our individual policy statements but many are embodied in the everyday life of our school.
